“You’re always in there, working!” my wife railed at me.
We were having an argument. I don’t like when she cooks late in the evening but she insists that’s the best time she has to do that.
Her rejoinder on this episode of the argument was that, during the entire time of her cooking, I’m always shut off in the study, working, and not actually trying to wind down for the night, which I claimed was prevented by cooking aromas.
She was right. When she threw this bombshell, however, it had the opposite of the intended effect—I blushed.
I did not consider my clacking away on my laptop to be working.
Sending DMs, scheduling content, recording videos, building digital systems…
Working? It’s all the fun in the world to me.
I smiled to think my wife recognized my fun times as work.
And is it work? Of course it is. But it’s so fulfilling that it doesn’t feel like work. It’s just a part of my life through which I serve others. That is what purpose.
Our world would be a much happier place if everyone’s work was fulfilling.
I want that for you.
Let me ask—what kind of work would you happily do for hours on end? Does it exist right now in the marketplace? If so, let’s talk about how we can close the gap between you and it.
Rooting for you.
Taiwo.
