Shame.

I go for it every morning.

Right after a late breakfast, thanks to my tendency for excessive excitement, I sit down and make a tall order of shame and embarrassment every morning.

How do I do this?

My sending cold DMs.

Oh yes! I am one of those people.

Those abominable ones who show up in your DM trying to start a conversation about a problem you don’t have. Those ones whose messages you chuckle at before deleting their chat and blocking them.

Why do I do it?

Because I have an empire to build.

No empire was built on vibes and convenience.

Specifically, within that empire, I am building an actual business. I intend to be profitable. To be profitable, one needs to be solving problems. To solve problems, one needs to have conversations with those who have problems.

You see, unless you are an influential person, people who have problems do not line up at your door every morning.

Nay, brother/sister, you must seek them out daily.

The DM is the ultimate stage for ego death.

It tests my resolve daily.

Am I sure I can do this? Can I succeed? Am I not annoying people?

I sometimes give up and return to content marketing, my safe place.

“My content will attract buyers in droves!” I tell myself.

If wishes were horses, beggars would top the Forbes list.

No, my dear—if you want to succeed, if you want to penetrate ground, you must go out daily and earn attention. Not passively through content.

Actively, through conversations.

It makes sense, if you think about it. No empire was built by the emperor waiting for citizens to come and enlist in his own country. No, he sent out troops. Even Jesus sent out disciples.

We all have reasons not to do it. Unless you are already hitting your income and career goals, I tell you, those reasons are likely excuses.

I am training through the pain.

There are a lot of wins and lessons coming from this exercise. You can get better at cold conversations. I’ll share them with you later.

Welcome to blunt-motivational me.

I am not seeking to motivate you, though. I am indulging you as an accountability partner.

I am tempted to quit. It’s a lonely road. Many of us who started together have given up. They are writing content and not converting, hoping things work out.

My goal is $10,000 a month, and so I must go out and develop business.

Thanks for hearing me out.

I hope this also motivates you in some way to hit your own goals.

Nothing good comes easy.

This week, I’ll be getting blocked, or getting better.

Question for you—

What’s one painful thing you know you should be doing that would increase you chances of success, but you don’t get around to doing? What’s the obstacle?

Let’s grow together.
